Korean police use new technology to detect deepfakes

Amid the rise of politically motivated fake videos, the South Korean National Police have developed a new technology for use in criminal investigations to detect AI-generated content. According to the National Investigation Bureau of the Korean National Police, the technology’s deep learning software has been trained to recognize approximately 5.2 million pieces of online content. It can determine whether a video (which it has not been trained on beforehand) is real or not in just 5-10 minutes with an accuracy rate of 80%.
